I haven't had the time to do a proper update in a few weeks, I got a great new job at an archive and I've been busy trying to arrange things so I can move to a safer neighborhood. In the mean time, I've uploaded a scanlation of one of Macoto Takahashi's manga, Sakura Namiki, or The Rows of Cherry Trees, translated by Lililicious, whose site is still active! They are NSFW, as they specialize in Yuri [Lilyにえいご], or lesbian manga. As mention in the previous post, Takahashi is not good at writing girls. The scenes revolving around a tennis table tournament are tedious, but written with a bit more effort than all that boring stuff about feelings. Its a short read full of pretty pictures, so enjoyable none the less.
Lilicious has translated quite a lot of influential shoujo manga over the years. Their translation of Rose of Versialles is no longer available [your local library should have some really nice English editions], but Oniisama e..., another ridiculous soap opera from the same author is still avaliable.

RIP Macoto Takahashi
Despite being male, Takahashi was the largest influence on shoujo manga in the 20th century. He originated the large stary eyes and dreamy imagry that came to define the genre in the eyes of the entire world. He would retire from writing shoujo however, as he felt he could not properly put himself in the mind of a girl. The books linked above are western fairy tails illustrated by Takahashi, they are aimed at a pre-school audience, so 高等学校すいしゅんの日本語 OK!. Takahashi's art was heavily featured in the Gothic and Lolita Bible, as his imagry heavily influenced the subeculutre.

Today's update is an assortment of KERA magazine. I upload in the order the magazine are in the folder, not chronological or by year. It's a bit messy, but it makes it a lot easier for me to keep track of what has been uploaded. It isn't possible for me to promise issues in advance since I'm going through these folders for the first time in year and I have no idea what is still there. Sometimes folders are empty or the files are incomplete, and sometimes they even have several completely different magazines in them. I try to note when they're incomplete, but its not alway obvious. Everything here has survived multiple compupters and hard drive crashes.
